EXCLUSIVE: Hearts of Oak hold ‘crisis meeting’ following shambolic start to season
Hearts of Oak board members have scheduled an emergency crisis meeting today following the club’s disappointing start to the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League, FootballMadeInGhana can exclusively report.
The Phobians are caught up in an early season relegation dog fight after back to back defeats in their opening two games.
Hearts suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea in their season opener before a lacklustre performance in Tarkwa saw them humiliated 3-0 by Medeama on Sunday.
It has been a truly underwhelming start to the new campaign in every sense, two games, two defeats, no goal scored, 4 goals conceded and bound to occupy the bottom of the league at least until match day three.
It is in light of the team’s failure in recent weeks that board chairman Togbe Afede has called an emergency meeting to discuss what has been going wrong at the club.
Footballmadeinghana.com gathered through the grapevine that as part of the agenda for the meeting, the board will discuss some pending transfer business.
A source close to the club disclosed that the Accra-based giants have identified 4 targets to bolster their midfield and attack before the current window closes.
The source also confirmed that Hearts of Oak are set to announce the capture of midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway and are weighing up the possibility of signing Former Kotoko hitman Ahmed Toure.
The Burkinabe striker is currently a free agent after his contract with A.S vita of Congo ended a fortnight ago.
