Ghana’s digital entrepreneur Ivy Barley joins Microsoft


Ivy Barley is a Ghanaian digital nomad and an entrepreneur. She is the co-founder and CEO of Developers in Vogue, an organization that trains females in the latest technologies and connects them to real-time projects and jobs.

A Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum and holds a master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics, Ivy Barley won a $10,000 prize as one of the 10 finalists of the Kwese #GoGettaz Competition.
Ivy Barley has announce the next stage of her career growth by joining Tech-giant, Microsoft as a program manager.
Barley said she was “optimistic about the opportunity to make bigger impact at Microsoft, while taking” her own Organisation, Developers in Vogue “to the next level.”
She added that “I’m glad to part of Microsoft, a company that’s leading technological advancement globally.
I’m even more proud to be associated with a company that loves and supports the work we do at Developers in Vogue. This is literally ‘Come as you are, do what you love’.”

What is your favorite thing about coding?
“I particularly like that with my laptop and internet, I can create powerful software that can transform Africa and the world at large.
Coding teaches you critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are very important skills for this era.
I won’t deny that it doesn’t get difficult. When coding, you’d realize the power of a ‘simple’ semi-colon because omitting that can sometimes cause you hours of no sleep”.
In 2017, she was named as one the 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians.

CK Akonnor wins dismissal case against Kotoko, Ghanaian giants ordered to pay compensation

Asante Kotoko are expected to CK Akonnor a hefty compensation after the former coach won his case for wrongful dismissal against the club on Monday. The Player Status Committee has ruled the Porcupine Warriors breached the terms of his contract. The ex-Ghana international was sacked in July this year, just nine months into his three-year contract. He dragged the club to the Ghana Football Association demanding his 2 years salary, league trophy cash, and CAF Confederations Cup group stage entitlements. The Player Status Committee ruled that the club was not justified in terminating the contract of the former Hearts of Oak gaffer. Both parties are yet to be furnished with a copy of the ruling.
